That didn’t surprise me, but the subject of the exhibit did:  the newish FileSmart program.  I was surprised because without doing any homework, I had assumed the program was aimed at the smaller airplane end of the general aviation world, so why would they be exhibiting it at a ‘big iron’ event like the Denver Regional.  The NBAA folks staffing the booth soon set me straight, and I promised them I would pass the word. The word is that FileSmart is aimed smack at the business jet, IFR audience. It is an educational initiative launched in June through the joint sponsorship of NBAA, the FAA, NATA and AOPA.  The central elements of the idea are three: that we can do ourselves a big favor when we can file early, file accurately and file with the status of the National Airspace System (NAS) in mind.  You can check out the program at www.filesmart.org Let’s look briefly at each of the three elements.  First, File Early: Filing early is not always possible in the often fast moving world of bizav, but when we do have the option we can improve our chances of getting what we want and avoiding delays, mainly because the earlier we file, the sooner we get into the queue.   When the enemy is weather and volume, it’s especially important to get filed before the ground stop, ground delay, and flow control initiatives get launched. https://www.aircrewacademy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/media_rokgallery_3_301d84f3-27cf-4dc9-9764-8ff4d808dec3_0ba8e019-5df8-4ab3-94b7-6c1f21e2125f.gif19746
