When, Quando, Wenn, Quand. In the last post in this series on IS-BAO training we covered the Who and What. Now it’s time to talk about the When. How often should you train on each subject? As we have seen, the IS-BAO can be short on specifics due to the wide range of operations, equipment, and locations it must cover. Some topics have specifically defined training frequencies. Emergency Procedures and Surface Contamination are Flight Crew examples. Annual Safety Procedures training for Cabin Crew is another. But how often is training required for CRM/Human Factors? We get only that it should “..be provided periodically for all personnel.” Most topics do not specify a recurrent training interval at all. These subjects fall under the general requirements of “All of the relevant items should be covered in Initial training. The recurrent training program should be designed so that key items are covered each year”. What is a “key item”? That is for you to decide, based on the nature of your operation. At Advanced Aircrew Academy, we work with our clients to identify key items, then recommend a schedule that rotates key topics each year and covers everything in initial at least once every two to three years (periodically). In addition, all of your training completion certificates and the individual course outlines are electronically stored for you in your own, dedicated online Learning Center. One of the ways we know that both our scheduling and training records systems work is because, for our Part 121 and 135 clients, the training that we provide must be approved by the FAA as part of that client’s approved Training Program. Another way we know is by the number of our clients that have passed training muster during an IS-BAO audit. The fact that you can give the auditor your log-in and they can conveniently complete the audit of your training content and records from wherever they happen to be is an added benefit.
</oembed>
