In most of the human factors courses I teach for pilots, I start off with a discussion on an airmanship model developed by Dr. Tony Kern and published in his book Redefining Airmanship. Dr. Kern developed the model by examining the shared characteristics of over 100 historically great aviators. The airmanship model represents what it takes to be considered among the best of the best aviators. When I look back to my flying career and think of those aviators who stood head and shoulders above the crowd, Captain Jay Palm was at the top of my list. For me, Jay best represents that airmanship model that Dr. Kern uses to describe the historically great aviators.
<thumbnail_url>https://www.aircrewacademy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/media_rokgallery_0_0eca4568-fe9e-473a-c56f-06a56b56dec0_b915afb0-57a7-40ff-e454-31548ec69c2a.jpg</thumbnail_url><thumbnail_width>301</thumbnail_width><thumbnail_height>165</thumbnail_height></oembed>
