The original version was published in 2007, one year after the Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO) 06012 Landing Performance Assessments at Time of Arrival (Turbojets)&nbsp;was published.&nbsp;SAFO 06012 was the FAA\u2019s response to the NTSB recommendations from the Southwest Airlines flight 1248 accident in Chicago Midway. So what\u2019s been happening in the last 7 years that prompted a revision to the AC? In December 2011, the NTSB issued a Safety Recommendation&nbsp;as a result of their investigation to American Airlines flight 331 runway excursion in Kingston, Jamaica to revise the AC to \u201cinclude a discussion of the risks associated with tailwind landings and landings on wet or contaminated runways.\u201d Runway overrun accidents outside the air carrier also caught the attention of the FAA for this revision. AC 91-79 and SAFO 06012 were applicable for turbojet operators operating under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) parts 121, 135, 125, and 91 subpart K. AC 91-79A shifted the focus to operations not covered by SAFO 06012, which leaves business aviation operators under Part 91 squarely in the crosshairs for the content of this AC.
