In order to ensure complete compliance with the Standard, you should complete a comprehensive analysis of the training requirements of the IS-BAO, State requirements (FAA in the U.S.), and any additional company requirements.\u00a0 (Do you require a PIC check-out before operating into KASE?\u00a0 Training on ramp operations?\u00a0 On aircraft servicing for pilots?)\u00a0 You can also benchmark with other operators similar to you.\u00a0 As an approved IS-BAO Support Services Affiliate, Advanced Aircrew Academy is also available for benchmarking and assisting with a training analysis for your flight department.<\/p>\n
Complete the process by documenting the results in your operations manual.\u00a0 As part of your SMS continuous improvement process, plan on an annual review of your training program with adjustments as necessary.<\/p>\n

When, Quando, Wenn, Quand.<\/strong><\/p>\n In the last post in this series on IS-BAO training we covered the Who and What. Now it\u2019s time to talk about the When. How often should you train on each subject? As we have seen, the IS-BAO can be short on specifics due to the wide range of operations, equipment, and locations it must cover. <\/p>\n Some topics have specifically defined training frequencies. Emergency Procedures and Surface Contamination are Flight Crew examples. Annual Safety Procedures training for Cabin Crew is another. But how often is training required for CRM\/Human Factors? We get only that it should \u201c..be provided periodically for all personnel.\u201d Most topics do not specify a recurrent training interval at all. These subjects fall under the general requirements of \u201cAll of the relevant items should be covered in Initial training. The recurrent training program should be designed so that key items are covered each year\u201d. What is a \u201ckey item\u201d? That is for you to decide, based on the nature of your operation.<\/p>\n At Advanced Aircrew Academy, we work with our clients to identify key items, then recommend a schedule that rotates key topics each year and covers everything in initial at least once every two to three years (periodically). In addition, all of your training completion certificates and the individual course outlines are electronically stored for you in your own, dedicated online Learning Center. One of the ways we know that both our scheduling and training records systems work is because, for our Part 121 and 135 clients, the training that we provide must be approved by the FAA as part of that client\u2019s approved Training Program. Another way we know is by the number of our clients that have passed training muster during an IS-BAO audit.
