Its ARGUS Platinum Standard is the IS-BAO, an International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations. Each year, ARGUS publishes a summary report of the audit results for the year just past, highlighting the recurring deficiencies they found during their audits of the previous year. The 2013 report is just out, summarizing the deficiencies found in the universe of 75 operators audited.

Why this blog article from your favorite training provider, we know you are asking? Because the number two item cited in the summary of ARGUS PROS’ audit findings during 2013 was – you guessed it – deficiencies in Safety Training. A whopping 61% of the total of all post audit recommendations in response to deficiencies had to do with Safety Training. These failures to meet the Standard related to Safety Training are centered in failures to adequately train in the operators’ Safety Management System (SMS). Safety Managers are not getting the continuing education or SMS training they need to perform to the Standard. Individual employees / team members / personnel are not being adequately trained (or evaluated) on the operators’ SMS. Documented Safety Training Programs/Syllabus, including the education and training in SMS required by the Standard, were inadequate or did not exist.

Let’s digress just for a moment and review the training fundamentals required by the IS-BAO. You must have a documented training program that describes the training required by the Standard (or by regulation, or by you, the operator). Personnel must get the training. The training experience must be documented. The training must be effective. That’s it. As for SMS training, the IS-BAO requires those very same basics – but, 61% of ARGUS 2013 audits found deficiencies in meeting these fundamentals.

[2
100,101,102
post-181","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog","tag-isbao-training","tag-safety-management-systems-training","tag-sms-training
["GET
