Bombardier has announced the 26th Anniversary Safety Standdown will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita, Kansas. The theme of Safety Standdown this year is "Moving Safety Forward."
Advanced Aircrew Academy will be facilitating two workshops at the event.
Dan Boedigheimer will be presenting workshops on Runway Excursion Prevention. The rate and numbers of runway excursions in the world has remained steady in the last decade. Nearly 25% of accidents involve a runway excursion. To address what needs to change to reduce this trend, an international team coordinated by the Flight Safety Foundation came together to publish the Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Excursions (GAPPRE) in 2021. The team published 101 recommendations organized by group for airport operators, air navigation service providers, aircraft operators, aircraft manufacturers, regulators, and researchers. This workshop will provide a summary of the recommendations through the lens of a business aviation operation.
Ryan Retelle will be presenting workshops on Winter Operations. Are you ready for snow and ice? Our Winter Operations workshop will review operations in ground icing conditions, including anti- and de-ice fluids, de-ice procedures, holdover times, and pre-takeoff contamination checks. Braking action report, cold temperature altitude corrections, and hazards associated with contaminated runways will also be presented.
