Maintenance Resource Management / Human Factors

The Maintenance Resource Management / Human Factors module for Mechanics/Engineers and Line Service includes a review of the Hazardous Attitudes of Anti-Authority, Impulsivity, Invulnerability, Macho, and Resignation. We define each Hazardous Attitude, detail recognizable symptoms, describe issues they can create, and review countermeasures to use. Situations where Hazardous Attitudes are more likely to effect decision making are also highlighted. The concept of Normalization of Deviance (NOD) related to failure to follow procedures is reviewed and how NOD can be an individual or organizational issue.
