CRM / Human Factors: Situational Awareness

The Crew Resource Management / Human Factors: Situational Awareness module reviews the three levels of situational awareness: Perception, Comprehension, and Projection. Factors that reduce and increase situational awareness are presented. The Shared Mental Model (SMM) concept for improved team situational awareness is included. The module ends with a review of expectation bias.

 

The training contents of this module are included in the Crew Resource Management – Part 135 module.

This module is one of many options for Crew Resource Management / Human Factors training for pilots. This module complies with the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) training requirement for "Human Factors (HF) / Crew Resource Management (CRM)" defined in Chapter 8 of IS-BAO. The module also complies with the Business Aviation Safety Consortium (BASC) standards NX6 3.12.4.1 and 2, which require CRM / Human Factors training.
