Occupational Safety and Health: Hot Work

Occupational Safety and Health: Hot Work

This eLearning training module is designed to provide employees with essential knowledge and skills to safely conduct hot work operations regarding OSHA’s 1910 Subpart I and Q. Hot work includes welding, cutting, grinding, and other processes involving open flames or generating heat, which can pose significant safety risks.

This training module is tailored for employees involved in hot work operations, supervisors, and safety personnel responsible for ensuring workplace safety. It can be customized to your process and procedures.

OSHA 1910 training is generally required for FAA Part 135 operations, particularly for employees who may be exposed to occupational hazards in the workplace. While the FAA regulates aviation operations, OSHA standards apply to ensure safety in the workplace, including areas related to general industry. Part 135 operators must comply with applicable OSHA regulations, including training related to hazardous materials, safety practices, and emergency procedures. Operators must ensure that their employees receive training that meets both FAA regulations and OSHA standards to maintain a safe working environment.

OSHA regulations and training apply to all workplaces, including those operated under Part 91, if the workplace has employees exposed to occupational hazards. OSH standards compliance is an integral Safety Management System (SMS) component. The module is responsive to the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) training requirement for "complying with all national and local occupational health and safety laws and requirements" defined in Chapter 9 of IS-BAO. The Business Aviation Safety Consortium (BASC) standard requires training to comply with state occupational safety and health regulations.
